Not Your Mamaw's Library
The ACMS Library is more than just a place to read a book. While the library is still a place for teachers to bring their classes for research assistance from the school librarian or work in small groups, it is also a place for students to explore personal interests.
The Maker Space offers students opportunities to be creative through the creation of self directed or guided art projects. Recently, during Morning Library (before school program), students had the opportunity to build their own mancala board set using recycled library book shelving and air dry clay. Others made memorable clay gifts for friends and family.
The Social Commons provides students an area to practice social skills. They play board games or cards which promotes good sportsmanship. They also have access to a variety of building materials to create fantastic structures. Sometimes, they may even find Snap Circuits which allow them the experience of learning about closed circuits in a safe and creative way.
The next time you visit ACMS, be sure to stop by the library. You never know what you will see or be able to do yourself!

Good Evening Parents, Guardians, and Students,
We have received, as expected, several questions about the new policy on backpacks. Beginning tomorrow, September 16th, backpacks and large purses will not be permitted on school grounds for students in grades 6 through 12.
School issued Chromebook cases are allowed. If you have a personally owned device, you may bring that in a sleeve style case—just nothing bulky.
A drawstring style bag is considered a backpack and not permitted.
Small purses are permitted. A small purse is defined as one in which you cannot fit a standard size notebook.
Students who have bags for extracurricular activities will be allowed to store those in a designated spot in the school.
Beginning tomorrow, we will determine who needs a locker for their belongings and make accommodations.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
Thanks and have a good evening.
Keri Willis
Principal
